Cordaid Ethiopia has been conducting a Performance-Based Financing (PBF) programme at 48 health institutions spread over 14 pastoralist woredas in the Borana Zone of Oromia regional state to boost the health sector. This project has been in the works since 2015 GC, beginning with 9 health facilities in the first phase and eventually growing to cover the entire zone by July 2021. While the present PBF project has contributed to the building of the Borana health system, infrastructural and medical equipment requirements remain unfilled. These investments need significant financial resources, which most health care institutions cannot afford with their current low subsidies.

Coraid Ethiopia, in partnership with the Cordaid Global Office fundraising team, created a documentary about maternal and child health care in Borana. The documentary was subsequently utilized to collect funds in the Netherlands, resulting in an increase in budget. Because the funds were raised via the production of a documentary in Borana, they will be invested in Borana health facilities to supplement the current Performance-Based Financing (PBF) programme to improve the quality of maternal and child health care.
People That We Work With
The intervention will target 25 health facilities in Borana and will be implemented in conjunction with the PBF project in Borana.
Objectives
The objective is to develop the health system in the chosen Borana health institutions to deliver better Maternal Child Health care (MCH) services.
