Last Mile

Project

Cordaid initiated PBF in the Borana zone (Oromia Region) in 2015, and a second PBF project began in the Jimma zone in 2019. The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) is presently funding both initiatives, which encompass 165 health centres, 11 hospitals, and 737 health posts with a catchment population of 4.3 million people.

Cordaid has been developing the health system in Jimma zone through PBF with the goal of increasing the availability and accessibility of high-quality healthcare at the primary and secondary levels. Among the major issues to be addressed at public health facilities throughout project implementation are the scarcity of medications and medical supplies, as well as inefficiencies in the pharmaceutical supply chain and health information system.
